In 2010 an unseasonal dry spell during July and August had left many of the freshwater lochs in Scotland at an all time low. With local rivers and streams reduced to nothing more than a trickle the water of Loch Shiel had slowly drained away to revealed a temporary new landscape, exposing rocks and sand that are normally hidden from view.
