The Aonach Eagach
Glen Coe. Hasselblad XPan 90mm. December 2017.
The Aonach Eagach needs little introduction to most. This precarious ridge links the two Munros of Meall Dearg and Sgorr nam Fiannaidh to form the steep northern aspect of Glen Coe, it has a fearsome reputation and in winter demands a true mountaineering expedition. Fortunately for this image, I didn't need to traverse the ridge itself, I made my approach from the west via a straightforward ascent of Sgorr nam Fiannaidh. As it was Boxing Day I had this view to myself, conditions were superb, fresh snow had settled overnight which helped emphasise the stunning mountain architecture in the warm mid-winter light.
