Torrisdale Bay
Bettyhill. Hasselblad 30mm. October 2010.
Torrisdale Bay is situated on the north coast of Scotland close to the tiny village of Bettyhill. This beautiful sweep of sand runs for over a mile and is backed by an extensive dune system and salt march. It is also a popular surfing spot and on this particular morning the huge waves crashing ashore were indicative of the tremendous wind speed which made conditions for photography marginal at best. Fortunately I was able to find a degree of shelter behind a dry stone dyke which allowed me to photograph the windswept bay and turbulent sky above.
