Beinn Dearg Mòr and An Teallach

Fisherfield Forest, Hasselblad XPan 45mm. May 2018.

Ruadh Stac Mòr stands high and proud in the middle of the famed Fisherfield Forest. Alongside its close neighbour A’ Mhaighdean, these two mountains are often regarded as the most remote of all 282 Munros. They can be reached by a number of different approaches; I made mine from Incheril, making good use of my mountain bike on the excellent Land Rover tracks and stalkers’ paths that infiltrate this area. After seven miles the trails abruptly stop near to Lochan Fada from where it is a pathless slog of another five miles across open hillside to achieve the 918-metre summit of Ruadh Stac Mòr. After three previous failed attempts I finally managed to capture the shot I had planned, the superlative view north-east across this great wilderness towards Beinn Dearg Mòr and An Teallach.
