Kyle of Tongue
Sutherland. Hasselblad 30mm. October 2009.
The north coast of Scotland is awash with steep cliffs, sheltered bays and long shallow inlets. One of the largest of these estuaries is the sweeping Kyle of Tongue, where the intertidal sandbanks and mud flats extend a whole 6 miles/?? inland. I spent a wonderful afternoon exploring this area and stumbled across this striking prospect. The cloud had been building during the day and I composed the shot more in hope than expectation. I was about to give up when suddenly the sun broke through for long enough to transform the scene.
