Assynt
Northwest highlands. Hasselblad 45mm. August 2011.
This remarkable ancient landscape is one of Scotland’s best and it can offer some fine photographic opportunities to those who are willing to explore it. This photograph was made from the summit of Beinn an Eoin, a mountain often overlooked by walkers and one with no obvious path. After negotiating my way to the top I stood on the windless summit amidst a cloud of midges as a large front of threatening cloud moved in from the south. Thankfully the sky to the north was still clear and I was able to shoot the image I had hoped for before the light was snubbed out by the rapidly advancing cloud bank.
