Loch Etive from Meall Copagach

Argyll and Bute. Hasselblad XPan 90mm. December 2017.

Having explored the area surrounding Loch Etive extensively over the years, one summit had remained unclimbed: the inconspicuous Meall Copagach. Tucked in behind the looming mass of Ben Cruachan, I had deduced from various surveys that the outlook from here would provide an excellent vantage point. This particular day was one of light winds but heavy showers, and as sunset approached the cloud began to build and any remaining patches of clear sky were now few and far between. On the horizon the darkening
sky looked grim with a foreboding temperament. But I was in luck; the sun eventually found a way through the burgeoning cloud bank and transformed the scene before me.
