Rannoch Moor, Hasselbland XPan 30mm, January 2018
Dawn from any mountaintop is always worth the extra effort, and the added elevation means you are in prime position to take advantage of the exquisite light that appears soon after sunrise. It is the reward for an early morning climb in the dark. On this particular morning I had made the relatively easy ascent of Stob Coire Raineach, a principal summit of Buachaille Etive Beag in Glen Coe. This position presents extraordinary views in every direction and was the perfect spot to witness the morning light striking the mountaintops around Rannoch Moor, bringing the landscape slowly to life.
