Thanks to their unique underlying geology,the expansive tracts of the Cairngorms make for
a completely different environment to the vertical lines and ridges so prevalent in the west. The deeply scoured
glens and rounded tops around Braemar are a classic example of the profound effect that glacial erosion
has had on this granite landscape.
